Welcome

If you are new to our site, this blog is sort of a hodge podge of our ministry and family life, and whatever else God lays on my heart to share. The Home Page above will link you to our Sufficient Grace Ministries page. You can read more about the 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization and the outreaches of this ministry whose mission is to offer comfort and hope to grieving parents. The Blog button brings you to the page you are currently reading, featuring a variety of subjects...some ministry updates, some family news, and some biblically-based encouragement. The Walking With You page is a place for bereaved parents who have lost a baby or child to find encouragement and hope. It is an online support group created so that families would know they are not walking this path alone. On the Dreams of You Shop page, you can learn more about the products and services we offer, place an order, or sponsor a family. The Encouraging Women blog is a work in progress. There, we hope to offer biblically-based encouragement to all women. The Resource page has been newly updated with a list of resources that are helpful for grieving parents. Our blogroll is also located on this page. Thank you so much for visiting our site. Blessings to you...

SGM Christmas Extravaganza Giveaway 2010 ~ Huge Finale Featuring Some of My Favorite Things

I am so excited, even though I'm coming to you live from my nice warm bed, while nursing a nasty cold. James and I have been quite under the weather the past couple days, so we will be home resting today.

Anyway...back to the reason I'm doing this post...

My mother loved Christmas. She loved to give special gifts to those she loved. No matter what, we always had Christmas. No matter what. And, believe me there were some years when the "no matter what" was no small thing. The picture below shows one of the happiest mom had. It was a Christmas before her cancer diagnosis. She looked at me and said, "I'm just so happy this year....so happy." I believe God gave her that gift.

Christmas isn't about material things...gifts. It is about the miracle that Jesus came for us. That miracle never gets old. I pray that you will be blessed by that miracle this season, and every Christmas...and frankly every day of the year. But...just for fun, and in memory of my mother...who would completely love this idea...we at Sufficient Grace Ministries would also like to spread some fun and Christmas joy by blessing some of you this Christmas with a few of my favorite things. I'm certainly no Oprah, with my handful of readers...but without further adieu, I give you...

Kelly's Favorite Things 2010
Sponsored by Sufficient Grace Ministries

I absolutely loved Choosing to See, by Mary Beth Chapman...and Steven Curtis Chapman's CD, Beauty Will Rise. One winner will get both!

J.J. Heller and her husband touch my soul with their words and style of music. The CD Painted Red features the song, In Your Hands. I haven't listened to the When I'm With You CD, but I have no doubt that it will be beautiful, touching, and God-honoring as well.

For several years, the book pictured above has been on of my favorite Women's Bible Study books. It brings to light many of the lies we battle as women...many of the lies the enemy uses to cripple us spiritually, rendering us weary and ineffective. It really pierces the heart and helps reveal the truth that sets us free as women. I am considering beginning this book again in January...and blogging about it, too. I would love if some of you would join in. I am giving away two copies on this post.

This BBQ sauce from Mission Kitchen is my very favorite...and I would love to share a bottle of it's sweet goodness with one of you!

I just finished reading the book Unlocked, by Karen Kingsbury and plan to order it for one of you as soon as I finish posting this. If you have read here for very long, you know that I love me some Karen Kingsbury. I have never met a Karen Kingsbury book I haven't liked, but as someone who works in Special Needs Education, I would like to say that I believe every middle school student, high school student, teacher or staff member of any age, and even parents should read this book. This book needs to be on the required reading list in my opinion, replacing some of the low quality books currently on our school's list. It is an amazing, touching, inspiring, and informative story. Also...not sure if you know this...but if you work for a high school or middle school and request a copy of the book for your school, Karen will send a free copy. She is truly an amazing woman of God, and I'm so grateful for her continued willingness to share her gift with others.

Some of you may not know that Sufficient Grace Ministries actually gives away bereavement support materials all year round. We are a non-profit organization supported through the donations of individuals, churches, participating hospitals, and funeral homes. We do not require parents to pay for our products or services. Our Dreams of You Shop features materials to create a lasting tangible memory for parents who miss their precious little ones. If you haven't received a Comfort Bear and a Dreams of You Memory Book, and you have lost a baby or young child, please leave a comment on this post, saying you would like one. ANYONE WHO LEAVES A COMMENT REQUESTING A DREAMS OF YOU PACKAGE WILL RECEIVE ONE!

And....last but not least...because I know how much you love My Forever Child...and because I love them too...

We are offering a $50 Gift Certificate to My Forever Child

to one of you!

Soooo....

How do you enter, you ask....

Well, you start by leaving a comment on this post, telling which items you are interested in. You may list as many as you want.

I would love a Dreams of You package, a friend of mine just recently lost her son at 38 weeks and I think this would be something nice for her to have ♥

Lies Woman Believe....cause I struggle with that all the time even though I know I am forgiven by Christ our Lord.

Choosing To See - I have just recently discovered Steven Curtis Chapman and his family and am beyond moved. LOVE his music.

My Forever Child - this would be used as a gift if I won - for someone very near to my heart.

Lies Woman Believe - Oh how I could benefit from this! Plus, if you start reading it again, how fun to do a sort of "book club" and read/discuss!

What great giveaways! I'd love the forever child gc, or really any of the music or the bible study book. I would also love a dreams of you package since I never got one for Mikayla.

What a loaded giveaway!
I would like a Dreams of You Package, I never requested one for Shyla or Jakin.

I would love the Chapman set! I love Steven and Mary Betha and I have read this book, but was going to buy one for the funeral home's resource library we are starting. I also gave away my Beauty Will Rise CD and would love another one!

I LOVE JJ and Dave Heller as well, their When I'm with you CD is really beautiful, there is also a song on there about a baby going to Heaven. (I already downloaded these from iTunes).

I would also like to be entered for the Lies Women Believe Study and for the Karen Kingsbury book, I have never read any of her work, but if you speak this highly, it must be great!

Also, of course, I would love a My Forever Child gift certificate!

I would love the JJ Heller cd. I have not heard of that cd.

MFC gift certificate would be wonderful.

The BBQ sauce would be great, also.
In fact, I would be ahppy with any of the items. They are on my favorite list, also.

I have done Nancy's book and I would be interested in your posts on that. She is one of my favorite authors and I was thrilled to coordinate her previous assistant's wedding several years ago where I got to meet Nancy. I should have asked to have my picture taken with her, but that would have been awkward-ha!

Love the picture of your family's Christmas. What a sweet memory.

Hello! I am new to your blog but I spent quite a bit of time last night reading through many of your recent entries. I am going to add you to my 'follow' list. I really enjoyed your piece about unanswered prayers. Faith, and trying to figure out where I stand and where to draw comfort from on this journey without my daughter has been a huge challenge to say the least.
I would be interested in the CDs. My friend Holly (Carleigh's mommy) has said wonderful things about the Chapman CDs.. I've never heard them but I'm sure they are wonderful! The MFC g/c would be nice too - my daughter wants a footprint necklace with her sister's footprints like the one I have. Thank you!

I would love a copy of Lies women believe. It sounds like good reading and may help me identify some of my personal challenges on the road to overcoming them. Unlocked is a fantastic book! As a parent with four kids and one with autism, it was eye opening and encouraging to read, a must read for sure!

I just wanted to tell you that I thought this giveaway was so wonderful and generous and shows your compassionate heart so beautifully!

I don't want to be entered for anything--all of the things are SO lovely, but I'm just blessed to 'know' you and have the things in my life that I do, I want someone else to win!!

(And I'm not just saying that because I never win anything! I've actually won TWO things in the last 12 years!!! :)

Your mom would be so proud!!!
